Over 7 years of performing and teaching with Ultra Gypsy and her newest project, the Barbary Coast Shakedown, have given Rose a unique insight to sharing the essentials of great technique, dynamic presence and the joy of this dance form.
As assistant director of Ultra Gypsy, Rose has taught with Jill Parker throughout the United States and Europe at major festivals, workshops, and private instruction. Festivals she is honored to have been a part of include Tribal Fest, Spirit of the Tribes, Northern Migration, Tribal Quest, Tribal Cafe, Tribal Con, and the International Belly Dance Convention.
Rose has developed Core Integration for Belly Dancers, material that came about as a result of traveling and teaching extensively for the past 5 years.
"I started to notice that many of the belly dancers we were teaching didn't fully understand how to tap in to their core strength for dancing. as i continued my training in modern, contemporary, and ethnic dance forms i started to see how these classes utilized training to strengthen the core muscles in a way that was then directly applied to dance technique. i started to apply these principles to my belly dance practice and all kinds of things started to click in to place for me. i started to modify many of the things i was learning to correlate with belly dance material and integrated them in to my weekly class. The material draws on dance training, yoga, pilates, and strength training. It's a great way enrich your dance practice to get the most out of your movement!"
Her experience with large group instruction and private/troupe coaching with a focus on professional performance makes Rose a versatile and articulate instructor.

Engaging the Core - Slow and Slinky
12:00-2:00
Dive into a jar of molasses! In this workshop, we will deepen our slow, ooey-gooey moves to achieve that slinky, sultry, intoxication look and feel of Tribal Bellydance. Drawing from yoga, pilates, feldenkrais, and Deb’s personal ‘stash”, this workshop will focus on core integration, spinal articulation, and building the foundational strength and flexibility in the hips, spine, and shoulders to directly support controlled, snake-like dancing; create ‘floating upper body’ dance posture for stage; and enage in healthy backbending and lay-backs to save your low back. All this will be applied to bellydance technique, and juicy fusion combos and choreography. She has often been coined the ‘Queen of slink”. Come learn Deb’s unique tribal stylization.

the purpose of this material is to present the essentials of initiating movement from the core or center of the body as well as increasing strength and flexibility. you will learn how to tap in to under utilized muscle groups for powerful and controlled movements weather they be locks or undulations, shimmies or spins.
the material is based in yoga, pilates, contemporary dance, and strength training.
we will cover a basic warm up for the entire body, functional exercises for balance and working across the mid-line of the body, and conditioning with an emphasis on form. it is my goal that every participant walks away understanding how these concepts work and why they are important to safe dancing and excellent technique.
